Excellent transfer pump May 09, 2008
By ctelder I bought this to re-fill my pond from a nearby creek. Initially, I would only use it for a few hours at a time for fear of overheating. However, I've had it on continuously for over a month now and it is still going (I'm using it as a sort of supplementary inflow for the pond). It has never clogged and puts out a steady stream of water through a garden hose about 100 feet long (with a little less force than you would get from your house). It's really quite amazing and certainly worth the price.
Update (7/30/10): It's been over 2 years now and the thing still works great. I have it run continuously for several months each summer to transfer water from my creek to my pond. I couldn't give a higher recommendation.

Wayne 1/2 HP pump Dec 21, 2007

It worked right out of the box. I used the included garden hose connector and hooked up a 50 ft, 5/8ths inch hose. The rise from the bottom of the pump was about 4 feet. The flow I got was about 5 gallons a minute, a bit slower than I expected, but it worked okay for what I needed. I may get a larger and shorter hose and I think it will improve a lot. My use was to drain the last six inches of waster out of a landscape pond and I liked the pumping to the last 1/8 inch of water. It did clog with debris once for me and I took off the bottom cover. It was easy to do.

gusher Nov 09, 2006
By peter peppertone this is the most effective pump that we have used for working on our pool and emptying our sump hole. it gets the water out in a hurry. the use of a 5/8's hose slows removal, but with the attachment that allows the use of a larger hose.... zip.... done.

Great pump. Sep 28, 2009
By SK I used to this to drain water out of my in-ground pool. The first time I used it, I attached a 3/4" garden hose. It worked pretty well with good flow, but I had a feeling it could be better. I went to the big box home store and bought the proper drain hose and now it pumps out water like a mofo. After removing the pump, it was warm to the touch, but I had it going for about 6 hours. Don't waste time with the smaller pumps; I thought this would have too much flow, but I was just right. The rated flow is under perfect conditions which I didn't have. I also liked the fact that I was able to order on a Friday and received it on Saturday with my prime membership.

The pump is GREAT, the Little Giant discharge kit isn't Nov 28, 2009

Hi, I am almost always very pleased with Amazon. This time, I was far more than pleased. I ordered this with Free Shipping and I had it in 3 days. The Wayne Water Systems VIP50 1/2 HP 2,500 GPH Submersible Utility Water Pump is perfect for what I needed. I have an in ground swimming pool and I wanted to drain it. It's about 22 thousand gallons. It is whisper quiet and pumps up 10 feet and out 100 with a great flow rate. The Little Giant hose kit (separate) is pretty cheap plastic that is hard to keep unrolled, but it did serve it's purpose. I actually hooked that together with my pool vacuum hose to get plenty of length and the pump had no problems. The pump is a Great item at a great price. Don't expect much from the hose, but it does pass a lot more water than a garden hose would. I was surprised at how small the pump is, looks bigger in the pictures, but it puts out like it is huge!
