Cheap looking and tacky! Jul 01, 2010
By J. Yount I was anxious to receive these, but when I opened the box - they looked very cheap and poorly constructed - nothing like the picture. They appeared to be made from some sort of plastic and while they were supposed to be "new" they had chips all along the side - it looked almost like the plastic melted in spots. Very disappointing! Needless to say I shipped these back to Amazon as soon as I received them.

Nice bookends, poorly packaged. Jul 19, 2010

Although they look kind of garish and colorful in the photo, when they arrived I was actually surprised as to how subtle the color really is. They have a great antique look, they're sturdy and not too bright. They're also much smalller than I suspected... maybe 6-8 inches tall? They are cute and don't look as cheap as they actually cost. Unfortunetly, the packaging was horrible... it just an old piece of styrofoam inside... and the tiny head of one of the peacocks was broken off in transit.

Don't bother Mar 28, 2010

Absolute junk. They look nice but that's about it. They just keep sliding on the table. Unless book ends have some non-slip material on the bottom, they're just not going to work. Absolute rubbish.

Very pretty! Mar 05, 2010
By kasuna These bookends are much more lovely in person. My only complaint is that one of the bookends, the peacock was out of the base. I fixed it in about two seconds with super glue, so obviously I didn't return them. But really, with how cheap they are, they're very nice for the price.

avoid... Dec 30, 2011
By rhiannonb I ignored the other posts about people receiving broken items, thinking I would be the lucky one that didn't have any problems. Not only were both peacocks broken off, one of the heads was knocked off, because once they were detached they were left to move freely about the package. They probably would have been alright if the packaging wasn't inadequate. There is Styrofoam with L-shaped grooves holding the bookends in place, but nothing supporting the peacocks, which is why they keep breaking off, I presume. Also, the bases of the set I received were two different colors. The part where the peacocks attach are supposed to have a brushed gold finish (I think?), but one barely had any gold sheen at all, and the other was completely gold. It was obnoxiously noticeable. I'm disappointed. They really were cute bookends, otherwise. Le sigh...
