4Great for most, average for me  Mar 17, 2010 By C. Peck
Most everyone in my distance mountain bike riding group loves these pills. I have tried these with moderate results - I think I sweat way too much. It has a nice mixture of content that helps prevent cramping/bonking, but everyone is different. For moderate distance rides (~2 hours, medium-high energy) I can absolutely tell when I am using them vs. not using them. They're also easy on the stomach, even on an empty stomach.

I sweat a lot, with lots of salt too. I have found that these pills can't really keep up with me if I'm doing a 4+ hour race (where I am drinking/sweating my way through a lot of water). In these situations, I prefer Succeed "S-Caps", which have a MUCH higher sodium concentration, and do much of the same thing otherwise.

Endurolytes: 40mg sodium/pill
S-Caps: 341mg sodium/pill

Hammer has the mentality that we all over-use salt and that they don't need to supplement us in that department when we work out. Obviously, everyone is different; both in how much they sweat, how much salt they secrete during sweat, and how sensitive your muscles are to sodium balance.

So with that in mind, stop and think about how much you sweat. Chances are these pills will be just fine you, like most people. But, if you often look like you were hit with a water hose when you work hard, take a look at the S-Caps.

5Great Product for the Heat  Oct 12, 2008 By Jeff R. Stone
I used these during a 24-hour adventure race in Georgia in the heat of August. I used these capsules with plain water every hour and went through over 22 hours of solid effort without experiencing any cramping, muscle soreness, nausea or any other problems associated with dehydration or electrolyte depletion.
I don't use them all the time, but I would not want to do a hot weather event or long training session without them.

5Leg cramps?  May 28, 2009 By W. Calhoun
I have suffered severe leg cramps for the last six months while biking. I tried adjusting my diet and nothing seemed to work. The worst part seemed to be at the end of the ride while waiting for a light to change. Hammer's Endurolyte product has eliminated this problem. The real test is coming as we move into the summer, but I am optimistic that the cramping problem is a thing of the past.

4Excellent for endurance athletes  Aug 12, 2008 By cherie
I use these when training and racing ultramarathons, marathons, and endurance events. I find them immensely helpful--I rarely bonk, and try to remember to take these every hour or so. If you cramp, they'll help. Also, when it's quite hot or humid, even if I'm only doing an easy six miles, I'll still take one, as I feel like it helps balance me out.

5Not snake oil  Feb 18, 2010 By J. Elliott
This product really works - and works better than the many electrolyte drinks I had been using. I am training for a Challenged Athlete 1/2 ironman even, so I ride about 100-150 miles a week on my recumbent Inspired Cycle Engineering QNT trike. Many of my prescription medications interfere with metabolic functions during exercise, and so I frequently get leg cramps during and after rides. I tried taking Tums (calciu) and Mylanta (magnesium) before rides, and stay hydrated with both water and various sports drinks (36 oz/50 miles) but nothing seemed to cure the cramps. Substituting different medications helped (protonix in place of nexium, etc) and using non-fat choclate milk for a recovery drink also helped, but nothing seemed to solve the problem completely, and I would either get leg cramps by the end of the ride, or they would wake me up in the middle of the night after a days riding.

The first half century hills ride I did using Endurolytes I took 1/hour in place of any electolyte solutions, and maintained my 36 oz water intake. Amazing, no cramps - just a faint 'pre-cramp' twitching towards the end of the ride. No problems that evening. 2 days later, in warmer (80+ degree) weather, I did another 1/2 century hills ride. I didn't do my normal slow and flat short recovery ride, because it was the nicest Feb day I had seen in a while, rain was expected to curtail my riding all next week, and I was curious about how well the Endurolyte would work. I took 1 tablet every 45 minutes, and not even a twitch. Muscles felt slightly tired at the beginning of the ride, and let me know they had been used by the end, but no cramps during or after the ride.

I took each of the Endurolytes with a part of a Quaker granola bar just to make sure there would not be any stomache issues, and there weren't. I'm sold, these will go with me on all future rides.
