Like other Hammer products, it works Apr 21, 2010
By Will Murphy HEED is an electrolyte replacement drink, in the same category as Gatorade and Powerade. However, HEED uses mainly complex carbs, rather than simple sugars like most competitive products. I find this makes it easy to digest with no stomach issues.
It also has a more complete electrolyte profile than many competitive products, which are heavy on sodium and have little to none of the other electrolytes.
The first several times I used HEED I did not like the taste at all. Now that I am accustomed to it, I like it fine. So if you are used to sugary drinks, expect an adjustment period for the taste.
It comes in several flavors. As with everything, try it in training. I think you'll find it is something you want to use for racing, too, if you race.

Heed works. Hammer Nutriiton is Great! Feb 07, 2011

If you have not used Heed yet, definitely check it out. Hammer Nutrition offers a full line of endurance oriented nutrition. Really great stuff for a mountain biker like me. Heed is perfect for short rides (2 hours or less). It's a mild taste (easy to drink) and gives you the calories/nutrition needed without some of the nastiness found in more mainstream products like Gatorade, Powerade, etc... Give it a try.

Great product Feb 07, 2011
By Amy P Long chain maltodextrin as the carb source doesn't upset my belly like fructose (table sugar found in Gatorade). Excellent flavor, excellent product. Excellent for ultra / endurance folks.

Great for long distance hiking. May 09, 2010

I bought this product because I was hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to keep up the 20+ mile pace for long. Using this product along with Hammer's Perpetuem I was able to hike 21, 23, 24, 25, 22, 26, etc. miles per day consecutively without running out of energy or feeling ill effects the next morning. I will continue to use Hammer's great products.

Great Un-Marketed Product For Runs Mar 03, 2010
By Kevin Heed is not advertised like Gatorade and such, so you don't hear much about it. But that doesn't mean it's because Heed is a bad product. This stuff is healthier than gatorade and more potent (as far as clean energy). The taste is subtle, and the drink doesn't fill you up. I drink one 16oz Heed for each long run I have (runs of 7+ miles). These is a noticeable difference in my energy levels with and without the Heed. My favorite flavors are Mandarin and Melon. The Strawberry is a bit too strong for my liking. The price is solid considering a 20oz gatorade is anywhere from $1.00-$2.00 in stores.
This product gets 5/5 for serious runners/trainers.
