5Simply the best all-around exercise tool I know of.  Dec 04, 2006 By PanDragon
There are so many great things about the Bodyblade I don't think I could list them all.

I've been dealing with complications from a back injury for over 10 years and in all that time, I have been searching for a way to safely exercise my muscles without aggravating my condition. After trying everything from Yoga to Tai Chi and Chi Gung systems, I think I've finally found it.

The Bodyblade is so well designed, it's pretty much the safest exercise tool I've ever seen. For one thing, it only weighs about 2 pounds and can only provide as much resistance as you can produce at any given moment. If your arms suddenly get tired or if you start to use it incorrectly, it automatically stops moving which instantly ends the resistance. In other words, with the Bodyblade, you are your own spotter. Learning to use this device is highly self-intuitive and it's virtually impossible to use it incorrectly.

The Bodyblade can only do what your body body can do. So if you're in great shape, I imagine it can provide all the challenge you want and then some. But if you're in a weakened condition like me, it will only provide a light level of resistance for as long as you can comfortably continue. Right now, I'm only using it for about 2-5 minutes a day. But the great thing is, in just a few minutes I feel like my WHOLE BODY got a nice, light workout, just right for my current level of ability.

I mean, I have spent YEARS trying to figure out a way to safely workout my abs without hurting my back. With the Bodyblade, I can feel my abs, arms, chest, buttocks, and thighs all getting a workout just by standing and holding it in my hands while shaking it side-to-side or up-and-down for about 60 seconds at a time.

It feels great to get such a complete workout so quickly. And there's something about the way it requires my full attention in order to keep it in motion that makes it actually fun to use. This isn't the kind of exercise you can do while zoning out and watching TV. But personally, I think that's a good thing. I'd rather be fully into my workout for 5 minutes a day, then doing boring, zombie workouts in front of the TV for 30 or 60 minutes a day.

In additon to the Bodyblade itself, the instructional DVD that comes with it is highly informative and really only needs to be watched once or twice to get a full understanding of how to the Bodyblade works. After that, an occasional glance at the Wall Chart should be enough to keep even the fittest athletes busy.

Aslo, even if you're not a physical therapist, I recommend watching the section meant for P.T.'s just because it's pretty amazing to see all the ways the designer has figured out how to use this thing! It really is the most versatile exercise tool I've ever seen and I've spent my fair share of time in physical rehab centers...

Fell in love with this device instantly and will be using it for many years. However there are things purchasers should know ahead of time:

1. There is no product support. Once you have it, you're on your own, as the company will not respond to any questions or communications.

2. It takes a little coordination to get it working properly, and it can take a little time to get it right. Don't be surprised if your first few sessions leave you with sore wrists and forearms and not much else (holding it too tight, haven't found the grip that works for you) or with kinks in your neck or shoulder (angle is off, user is tensing up too much, or holding breath). Keep playing with it and those problems will gradually disappear.

3. Regardless of how they label the exercises ("ab crunch" for example) your arms and shoulders are doing all the work, with other muscles just being used to stabilize you against the oscillation. So any benefit to your other muscles is entirely dependent on how long your arms and shoulders can maintain the exercise. My shoulders generally give out long before I feel it in the abs. The exception would be some of the leg toners where the side to side oscillation really forces you to use your legs.

Don't hesitate to buy it though. It's a great device!

Bodyblade is a great rehab tool not only for shoulder but for shoulder girdle and core strengthening. If the customer uses the video with the bodyblade, he/she can see imaginative ways of using it. It is really fun and has a short learning curve. I love to use it myself and recommend it to my patients.

I had been looking for a way to build muscle in my upper body without spending so much time working each muscle group individually. My usual workout routine includes lifting free weights, which I have done for years. So, for the last two weeks, I have used the Bodyblade Classic for my upper body/core exclusively; no free weights at all. I selected about 8 exercises that major on my upper body. I do each exercise at least 30 seconds, and some I have worked up doing the full 1 minute, at least 4-5 days a week. I love how it "burns" the triceps. My upper body muscle definition is already more obvious, even my abs....no more crunches for me! I also feel stronger and see an improvement in my posture. I will still use my barbell for weighted lower body work (squats, lunges, etc.), along with running/walking on the treadmill, but the Bodyblade gives me a BETTER upper body workout than my dumbbells in a fraction of the time! I highly recommend it.

i've never heard of the body blade until i went to physical theraphist after shoulder surgery. i thought it was a joke when she presented it to me, but after trying and getting the hang of it i've found the device to be a tremendous tool for strengthening my shoulder and forearms. when i started, i could hardly do it for a minute. after repeated use, two minutes gives me a great workout. my non surgery shoulder can handle it a lot longer and with less effort. i am using it as a guide to compare my healthy shoulder with my surgically repaired shoulder and the contrast is sharp. my goal is to be able to do the body blade for two minutes on each arm with equal effort and fatigue levels. when they are equal, i will know that my surgically repaired shoulder is fully healed. i ordered a body blade for home use since my theraphy is ending and will continue to use it well after i am fully healed.
